North West MEP Jim Higgins says he believes Ireland will endorse an EU proposal to implement a Europe wide system of road traffic laws and penalties.
The proposal already has the backing of parliament and the commission, and now the Transport Committee, of which Mr Higgins is a member, has also backed it.
A number of countries accepted the idea in principle in March, but Ireland was not represented at that meeting because it fell in the period between the General Election and the new government taking office.
Now the indications are that Ireland and the UK will accept the proposal, which Jim Higginsd says is particularly important for border counties such as Donegal….
