Two of Michael Ferrys victims to sue Ard Scoil Mhuire

Two of the victims of Gweedore paedophile Michael Ferry are to sue him and the owners of the Irish Language school were they were abused.
Dungloe based lawyer Patrick Sweeney confirmed that he has recieved instructions to initiate civil proceedings on behalf of two of Ferrys victims.
Mr Sweeney said he would be seeking damages on behalf of his clients in a personal action against Ferry as well as the owners of Ard Schoil Mhuire, where Ferry continued to be employed on a part-time basis after he was convicted in 2002 of sexually assaulting a boy in the 1980s.
His employment continued depsite the owners being made aware by Gardai of his conviction.
Mr Sweeney said he had been attempting to establish the ownership of the school at the time the boys were abused there.
Once this has happened he has been instructed to initiate civil proceedings “without delay”.
Ard Scoil Mhuire is operated by Colaiste Colmcille, last week the college was requested to step aside from the umbrella group for Irish language college – CONCOS.
