Varadker denies A5 is being mothballed, but admits funding timetable will be changed

Questions are being raised by opposition deputies after indications that the Government is rowing back on its commitment to fund the upgrading of the A5.
There’s been no formal government statement, with the initial news broken by the North’s Finance Minister Sammy Wilson.
In the Dail this afternoon, Transport Minister Leo Varadkar admitted the time frame for the investment will have to be changed in light of the ecnomic circumstances, but stressed the scheme is neither being cancelled nor mothballed.
Minister Varadkar declined to make a comprehensive statement on the issue, saying it’s to be discussed at North South Ministerial Council Level next week……
