The Chair of the Derry branch of Comhltas Ceoltorai Eireann has confirmed they will appeal to the Ard Comhairle following a decision by the Standing Committee of the organisations’ Ulster Council not to back a bid for the All Ireland Fleadh to take place in the city next year.
It’s understood the reason for the decision taken at a meeting in Omagh yesterday was concern over the risk of dissident attacks during the event.
