Buncrana students capture moment earthquake struck Donegal

Donegal has hit the national headlines again today following last night’s earthquake recorded in the north of the County.
Dozens of listeners to Highland Radio have contacted us today telling their stories of when the 2.2 on the Richter scale tremor struck.
While not strong enough to cause any structural damage, the quake shook furniture and rattled glass from Buncran to Letterkenny and across to Gweedore.
The British Geological Survey said their equipment  recorded a magnitude 2.2 earthquake at 1.04 this morning.
That information is confirmed in the below picture which is of a seismograph recorded at St Egney’s National School , Desertegney, Buncrana, in the early hours of this morning.
They record the seismic event in South Inishowen.
The seismograph is operated as part of the “Seismology in Schools” project operated by DIAS.
