Commincation Minister promises to look at Doneagl’s poor mobile coverage

Communications Minister Pat Rabbitte has promised to look at how the Telecommunications Regulator Comreg assesses mobile and broadband coverage in rural areas.
Speaking in the Dail last evening, Deputy Joe Mc Hugh says at present, performance and coverage is based solely on population considerations, and that’s putting some rural communities at a disadvantage, particularly in counties such as Donegal:


Responding Minister Pat Rabbitte agreed that the issue needs to be examined.
Promising to look at the situation, Minister Rabbitte said a major problem is that while there is intense competition in urban areas, that’s not the case in more rural areas:
