Council members block Fine Gael Councillors’ St Patrick’s Day Trip

Plans for a  St Patrick’s Day trip for the Mayor Noel McBride, his Deputy Barry O’Neill and a council official have been blocked, with the Mayor subsequently confirming he will pay his own way.
It is claimed the proposals where contained in a draft agenda for this months’ County Council meeting but where not in the agenda circulated to councillors at the meeting.
Some claim this was to facilitate Fine Gael passing the motion without debate.
Cllr Jack Murray says he believes selling Donegal as a tourism and investment location is a worthwhile aim, but questions the value of going to the US at the same time as every other council and organisation.
