235 teaching posts which were due to be axed from schools in disadvantaged areas are to be retained. A number of those posts are in Donegal.
It follows intense pressure on the government from teaching unions and parents and a promise from the Minister for Education to review the cuts.
The decision was signed off on at today’s Cabinet meeting.
Education Minister Ruairi Quinn has said that the money to pay for the teaching roles will have to be found in existing budgets.
However, speaking this evening, Mr Quinn admitted he made a mistake………….
