Irish shoppers are smarter since the recession – NCA

Irish shoppers have become smarter since the recession.
That is according to a National Consumer Agency survey which shows there has been a shift in our spending patterns over the past five years.
Almost nine in ten customers believe they are now shopping more wisely with nearly 70% going to less expensive stores.
More than half of those surveyed also claim they are more likely to buy own-brand products.
“They are seeking to get cheaper products without compromising in quality and that is taking advantage of the special offers that are out there,” said director of research and policy at the NCA Fergal O’Leary.
“It goes into an idea that consumers are smarter, they are more tuned into what is available in the market and they are making better decisions in terms of the products that they buy and the value that they get.”
