Man charged with manslaughter following death of Omagh assault victim

An 18-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter following the death of a 28 year old man who was assaulted in Omagh at the weekend.
Darren McBrearty from Omagh was attacked in John Street at 8 o’clock on Sunday evening and rushed to hospital, where he died yesterday.
The 18-year-old is due to appear at Dungannon Magistrate’s Court today. Two other men, both in their early twenties, were also arrested in connection with the assault. They’ve been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
It’s the second violent death in Omagh this year, following the death of 19 year old Monaghan man Jason Mc Govern after he was assaulted in Omagh in January.
Local Cllr Sean Begley says efforts to make the town safer are being redoubled.
First, he paid tribute to Darren Mc Brearty, whom he knew personally………..
