Councillor Terence Slowey has Fine Gael party whip restored

slow Fine Gael General Secretary, Tom Curran, has confirmed today that membership of the Party whip has been restored to Councillor Terence Slowey.
He had the whip removed in 2011 after a government ethics watchdog found the councillor had claimed double expenses for the same journey.
Cllr. Terence Slowey claimed a mileage allowance for a conference in Killarney, Co Kerry and a separate allowance for another event in Clonakilty, Co Cork on the same weekend.
The Councillor was then expelled from the party which said he had acted in a manner seriously damaging to the interest of the Party.
An appeal by the councillor to that determination was rejected.
Councillor Slowey apologised  – stating the incident was a genuine mistake expressing his wish to eventually return to the party.
While sitting on the council as an Independent, Councillor Slowey continued to support the Fine Gael Party – today in a short statement, Fine Gael General Secretary, Tom Curran confirmed that membership of the Party whip has been restored to Councillor Terence Slowey.
