In a statement today, Minister O’Dowd confirmed he has approved the business case for Phase 1 of the Lisanelly Shared Education Campus project.
He said his department is committing more than £14million of funding over the next three years to deliver the first stage of a project that will ultimately deliver a shared education campus serving the needs of almost 4,000 children in the Omagh area.
The first phase will see site work commence in the autumn, with the construction of the new Arvalee School commencing in the summer of 2014.
In May, the then Environment Minister Alex Attwood recommended planning approval for the 126 acre site including six core school buildings, shared facilities and sports pitches.
