Thousands to attend Apprentice Boys marches in Derry

app boysThe annual Apprentice Boys of Derry parade is taking place today with activity on the Cityside starting at 9 o’clock.
The Apprentice Boys Parent Clubs, accompanied by 9 Bands will parade around the City Walls, lay a wreath at the War Memorial in the Diamond and then parade to St Columb’s Cathedral for a church service.
While this is taking place, a number of other local bands will leave The Fountain and parade around the adjoining area.
The Main Parade will leave the Waterside at lunchtime.
At 12 Noon, there will be a pageant at Carlisle Square, after which a musket will be fired to mark the start of the main parade at 12.30.
It will leave Duke Street, cross the Craigavon Bridge and travel via Carlisle Square, Carlisle Road, Ferryquay Street, The Diamond (anti-clockwise), Bishop Street, London Street, Hawkin Street, Kennedy Street, Wapping Lane, Abercorn Road, Carlisle Square, Craigavon Bridge, Spencer Road, Dungiven Road, Dennet Gardens, Sheskin Gardens, Bann Drive, Finn Gardens, Mourne Drive, Dennet Gardens, Dungiven Road, Glendermott Road, Bonds Street and May Street before dispersing.
At 4.30, the Parent Clubs will parade back to the Memorial Hall on Society Street via The Diamond.
