JPC Chair wants army to be used to support “overstretched gardai”

The Chair of Donegal’s Joint Policing Committee has called for Defence Forces support for over-stretched Donegal Gardaí.
Cllr Patrick McGowan claims that the county is so understaffed that whole areas are left with just two guards on duty at night.
There has been a number of high profile robberies on elderly people in Donegal over the past year.
And Councillor Patrick McGowan says the army should be trained up to provide back-up when there aren’t enough guards available….
