Councillor speaks of shock in Bundoran following suspected ‘hit and run’ death

The body of a man, believed to be the victim of a “hit and run” incident, has been found on the outskirts of Bundoran.
The man, in his late 40s, was discovered shortly after 5am this morning on the Newtown Road about a mile outside the town.
Gardaí said the man appeared to have been hit by a vehicle that did not stay at the scene.
They say the victim is believed to have been walking home from Bundoran to his home in Boyannagh, Co Leitrim after a night out.
He has not yet been named.
The road remains closed while Garda forensic collision investigators examine the area.
Local Cllr Michael Mc Mahon says there is a pappable sense of shock in the town today that this has happened………


Gardaí are asking anyone who was on the Newtown Road near Bundoran last night or in the early hours of this morning to contact them at Ballyshannon Garda Station on 071 9858530.
