Local shopfitting firm protests Tesco Letterkenny over fears over 100 job losses

tesco A protest took place outside the Tesco store in Letterkenny on Saturday over claims from a local shopfitting company that up to 100 jobs are under threat because of the potential loss of a Tesco contract.
Martin Mc Cafferty, Managing Director of Rock Shopfitting Services claims Tesco is withdrawing contracts from them on both sides of the border in favour of a multi-national company.
He says up 100 jobs could be lost at his companies basis in Muff and Derry.
Tesco has rejected the claims stating that Rock Shopfitting Services lost out in a transparent tendering protest
However, Mr Mc Cafferty rejects that claiming this is part of a wider Tesco strategy to cut down on its administration costs by employing fewer outside contractors.
He told Highland Radio News earlier how he believes local firms will lose out as a result, and is urging Tesco to reconsider:
