Junior doctors are to mount a one day national strike on Wednesday the 25th of September.
It follows a vote by 97 per cent of junior doctors in favour of industrial action.
The Irish Medical Organisation says the HSE is in breach of an EU working hours directive – and says non consultant doctors are routinely working shifts of up to 36 hours in a row.
Furthermore – the IMO says that each week from Monday the 30th of September, a strike will be called in at least one hospital in each region in the country.
