Man and woman plead guilty to Peace Bridge robbery

peacebridgeA man and a woman have pleaded guilty at Derry Crown Court to charges in relation to a robbery on Derry’s Peace Bridge in February.
20 year-old Louise Swords of the Strand Foyer and Robert Gannon who is 26 and from Dunvale Close both in Derry were charged with a number of offences in relation to the incident in which a woman had her handbag stolen.
Swords admitted assisting offenders by giving false information, fraud by false representation by using a Barclay card and three similar charges all of which occurred on February 5 and 6.
Gannon was charged with robbery of the handbag and both faced charges in relation to converting stolen property again on the same dates.
Pre-sentence reports were sought on both and the court was told that Gannon had convictions in the South some of them drug related.
Swords was released on continuing bail and Gannon was remanded in custody.
Both will be sentenced on October 15.
