Number signing on in Donegal falls in August

There were 21,422 people on the Live Register in Donegal at the end of last month, down 297 on the July figure and down 807 on August 2012.
The numbers signing on in the county saw a 3.6% fall year on year, with the numbers signing on  falling in all of Donegal’s Social Welfare Offices.
The biggest percentage decrease was registered in Inishowen with 4,325 signing on at the end of August, down 7.3% on the same period last year.
There were 1,589 signing on in Dunfanaghy down 5%, 2,183 in Dungloe, down 4.6% and 1,317 in the Donegal Town office, a fall of 4.2%.
There were 6,373 on the register in Letterkenny at the end of last month, down 2.3% on August 2012, while there were 1,555 on the register in Ballyshannon, down 2.2%
There were 1,250 signing on in Killybegs, down 1%, and 2,830 in Ballybofey, virtually unchanged at less than 1%.
