Economist proposed no spending cuts in next months budget

The author of an alternative Budget with no spending cuts whatsoever insists his options are realistic.
Economist Micheál Collins of the Nevin Economic Research Institute says the government can reach the Troika’s deficit targets with just 2 billion euro in adjustments.
He says the only spending cuts should be those already dealt with in the Haddington Road pay deal.
And he’s surprised that Michael Noonan has already dismissed his proposals:
“I think if you read them and read through the detail of them, you’ll find that they are quite sensible, they’re robust in terms of the data that they’re based on, we work it through it terms of where we need to get to for the economy given the demands from the Troika and others, and in the long term from the various people who are funding us.”
