Councillor calls for a legal and a community response to Falcarragh robbery

Seamus O'Domhnaill
A Falcarragh councillor is calling for a community response to the latest spate of aggravated burglaries in Donegal, the latest of them last Thursday night in Falcarragh.
Speaking to Greg Hughes on today’s Shaun Doherty Show, Cllr Seamus O’Domahnaill said while many scrap dealerships and cash for gold shops self regulate and ensure that their customers are genuine, the possibility of using such outlets to get rid of stolen goods is there, and more regulation is needed to prevent that from happening.
He says along with such regulation, there is an imperative on local communities to support their older members…………

Meanwhile, Gardai are renewing their appeal for information about the incident in which four men entered the house occupied by a man aged in his 70s.
He was uninjured but badly shaken by the incident. They made their escape with a quantity of cash, single barrel shotgun and box of cartridges, a mobile phone.
Gardaí believe the men weere travelling in a dark colouired car, and are seeking assistance from the public, particularly details of any suspicious activity in the Falcarragh area and on the R256 Muckish to Letterkenny via Glenveigh on Thursday night into Friday morning. Anyone with information is asked to contact Milford Garda Station on 074 9153060, or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
