The North’s Environment Minister Mark H.Durkan has extended an archaeological dig on Derry’s Bishop Street for at least a further fortnight.
Local Councillor John Boyle is welcoming the decision, saying the Queens University led team is now uncovering important artefacts which will prove that there was human habitation on the Hill of Derry as far back as the Bronze Age 4000 years ago.
Cllr Boyle says this is the most significant dig of its kind in the history of the city, and more time may be needed to complete it…………..
