Transport Minister Leo Varadkar has confirmed funding of €1.2m for the repair of Elactagh Bridge between Ballybofey and Fintown, one of the key links between East and West Donegal.
The bridge has been deemed unsafe for some time, with a temporary ‘bailey bridge’ structure in place there at present.
Junior Minister Dinny McGinley says the current arrangement is deemed to be unsatisfactory and urgent repair is in the public interest and essential.
He says he’s been in touch with the county manager Seamus Neeley, and believes work on the six month project can start shortly…………
