Letterkenny Town Council has been told that if 74,000 euro can be found between the Town and County Councils, it may be possible to carry out some repairs to the footpath out to Ballymacool.
Cllr Gerry Mc Monagle had moved a motion calling for a barrier to be erected on the footpath to improve safety, but other members suggested the money would be better spent on the footpath, and questioned whether the current state of the footpath could sustain barriers.
Cllr Mc Monagle agreed, saying he moved the motion to ensure that the footpath stays on the agenda.
He agreed to a suggestion from Cllr Kieran Brogan that a joint council initiative be pursued, saying anything that brings progress would be welcome……..
