Minister confirms Donegal’s Town Councils will be scrapped

hoganNew laws promising the most radical reform of local government in a century have been published.
The Local Government Bill 2013 will see all 80 town councils abolished, and replaced by a system of municipal districts.
Letterkenny, Buncrana, Ballyshannon and Bundoran Town Councils will be scrapped while Donegal County Council will go from 29 to 37 seats under the move.
Unified local authorities will be established in Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford – to replace the existing city and county councils.
