Council to seek meeting with Garda Commissioner over crime in the county

breakinsDonegal County Council is to seek a meeting with the Garda Commissioner to discuss crime in Donegal.
The decision was taken at a special council meeting this afternoon which was also attended by members of the Donegal Joint Policing Committee and garda representitives.
The Chief Superintendent was represented by Superintendent Andy Archbold, who told members that Gardai has not been immune to cuts, and it’s the job of management in the Donegal Division to make the best use of scarce resources.
However, he stressed that the members concerns and suggestions would be brought back to the Chief Superintendent…………

The special meeting was called at the behest of Cllr Michael Mc Bride, who has expressed satisfaction with the way it went.
He says in his view, the JPC has not succeeded in doing what it was intended to do, and he’s hopeful that a meeting can take place with the commissioner, and it can pay dividends…………..
