Police in Derry have carried out a controlled explosion on a suspicious object in the Mimosa Court area of the Waterside.
A security alert has been ongoing since the discovery of the object in the early hours of this morning.
A number of homes in the area have been evacuated. The YMCA centre in Drumahoe has been made available for residents evacuated.
Sinn Féin Waterside Councillor Bridget Meehan said the device found this morning was found has police left a separate security alert in the area from last night:
