Minister refuses to comment on health savings reports

The Public Expenditure Minister is refusing to comment on reports of a new plan to make savings in health.
It is claimed the HSE may slash the Capital Expenditure budget in a bid to meet savings of 666 million euro next year.
Arriving at his Department this morning Brendan Howlin suggested the reports were just speculation.
“I don’t think we should be making comment on the daily pronouncements in the newspaper, which I don’t know whether they are connected to any reality” he said.
“So we’ll see the service plan the Department of Health will produce in a couple of weeks time” he added.
