Derry mortar accused to face a preliminary enquiry next month

Two men charged in connection with the finding of mortars on Derry’s Letterkenny Road in March will face a preliminary enquiry on November 28.
35 year old Seamus McLaughlin of 19c Eastway and 37 year Gary McDaid of 121, Glenowen Park are charged with conspiracy to cause explosions either in the North or the republic on March 3rd.
They also face a charge of possessing explosives namely four improvised mortars with intent to endanger life and possessing items likely to be of use to terrorists namely a van again on March 3.
A prosecution barrister told Derry Magistrate’s Court that a preliminary enquiry would take place On November 28.
McLaughlin is currently in custody and McDaid is on bail.
