The Mayor of Letterkenny is conceding that the campaign to save the town council structure has been lost.
Cllr Pascal Blake was speaking after receiving a letter from the Environment Minister refusing a meeting this week on the basis that the decision has been made and face to face discussions would be pointless. Minister Phil Hogan will be in Letterkenny on Friday for the opening of the new Water Treatment Plant at Magheranennan.
The letter will be raised under correspondence at tonight’s meeting of the council, and again tomorrow night at a public meeting in the chamber.
That meeting was conceived as a focus for the campaign to retain the council, but Cllr Blake says it’s clear that’s not going to happen………..
