Two men in court on charges linked to the death of Constable Philipa Reynolds

PhilipaTwo men have been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on charges linked to the death of police constable Philipa Reynolds in Derry on February this year.
26 year-old Shane Frane whose address was given as HM Maghaberry Prison and Conor Clarence, 24, whose address was given as 27, Bond’s Hill in Derry appeared at a preliminary enquiry at Derry Magistrate’s Court today.
Frane was charged with the manslaughter of Constable Reynolds on February 9 2013 he was also charged with aggravated vehicle taking, causing death while driving uninsured, causing death by driving after taking a vehicle, burglary and criminal damage.
Clarence was charged with aggravated vehicle taking, assisting offenders, causing death by taking a vehicle burglary and criminal damage again all charges relate to the same date.
It was accepted there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions.
Neither Frane nor Clarence said they wished to call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage.
Both men were returned for trial in custody to appear at Derry Crown Court on November 29.
