Official opening of new Letterkenny Wastewater Treatment Complex

The Minister for the Environment Phil Hogan has officially opened the new wastewater treatment complex in Letterkenny.
There had been suggestions that a number of local public representatives would boycott his visit in protest at the scrapping of the local Town Council and the refusal by the Minister for a meeting to discuss it.
However, Mayor Cllr Pascal Blake and most other Town Councillors attended today in recognition of the council staff who brought the project to conclusion.
Speaking to Highland Radio News, Minister Hogan paid tribute to town council staff in Letterkenny, and he said they would still have a key role to play in the new Municipal Districts:
