Buncrana Town Council officials are being asked what proportion of unpaid parking tickets are being referred to the courts.
This week’s meeting of the council was told that 55 cases of unlawful parking have been passed on to the council’s solicitors for prosecution between October 2nd and November 4th.
When questioned by Cllr Joe Doherty, officials were not able to say how many cases had been previously referred. He told the meeting that he had previously been informed that there were in the vicinity of 700 outstanding parking tickets, and asked if there was cherry picking going on.
When this was strongly denied, Cllr Doherty replied “Watch this space”.
He says there are questions to be answered…………..
