A Donegal councillor is calling for the retention of the county’s motor tax service.
Councillor David Alcorn says a Department of Transport plan to centralise the motor tax service and put the emphasis on the online renewal system will put Donegal motorists at a disadvantage.
Motorists can currently renew their tax at six different locations in Co Donegal, but it’s understood the Government is looking at cutting costs by reducing counter services.
However, Cllr Alcorn says while focusing more on the online service may work for other parts of the country, it wouldn’t suit Donegal……….
