Donegal’s Mayor says he hopes the authority will survive beyond tomorrow’s last chance budget meeting, which could see the council dissolved if it fails to adopt a budget.

The council has already met over three days and nights, and adjourned 21 times, but remains deadlocked. Fianna Fail, Sinn Fein and Independent Cllr John Campbell are opposing the budget, with Fianna Fail pledging to continue doing so until a number of questions about Irish Water are answered.

Independent Mayor Cllr Ian Mc Garvey says he will not comment on the political bac kground to the stalemate, but is urging all members to be mindful of the consequences of dissolution………….
