Siptu says HIQA ambulance review must examine the impact of cutbacks

SIPTU is demanding that a HIQA review into ambulance response times considers the impact of cutbacks.
The Trade Union’s Health Division says recent reports of delays in ambulance call-outs are of huge public concern. They include claims that it took an ambulance 50 minutes to arrive at the scene of a fatal road collision near Carndonagh just before the new year.
The union says the annual budget for the ambulance service in Ireland is 130 million euro – far below the 240 million euro spent in Scotland.
And SIPTU’s Health Division Organiser Paul Bell says it’s clear cutbacks are having an impact – he wants HIQA to be full and frank in their review………..
