A West Tyrone MLA has today launched a campaign to have a dedicated Autistic Sensory Unit based in the Strabane District.
Michaela Boyle says in recent weeks, she has met with local parents and educationalists in the Strabane area on the need for a dedicated ASD Unit, and she says there is no doubt that there is a growing awareness of the needs of children and families who are directly involved .
She says in the forthcoming weeks she will be working with local parents and schools in order to ascertain the type of facility required, and will then push the issue with the Health and Education ministers in Stormont.
