Family of Hugh Doherty seeking meeting with Defence Minister

The family of a Letterkenny soldier who was shot dead in Lebanon has called on the Justice Minister to meet with them.
In 1981 Private Hugh Doherty was shot in the back when manning an observation post overlooking Palestinian controlled territory while serving with the United Nations.
His colleague, Private Kevin Joyce from the Aran Islands, disappeared and has never been found.
Last week in the Dail, Minister Shatter told Deputy Padraig Mac Lochlainn that the issue had been fully investigated by the UN, and lessons had already been learned.
