Donegal Cllr Frank McBrearty Junior is calling for the positions of Garda Commissioner, Minister for Justice and Garda Ombudsman to be ‘completely independent’.
Mr Mc Brearty came to international attention when the Morris Tribunal found that Gardai had tried to frame him for murder.
He’s now demanding that reforms recommended in the tribunal report are acted on, and is seeking the establishment of a totally independent Garda Authority.
Cllr Mc Brearty says he’s listened to a lot fo comments from various politicians, and is challenging them to debate the issue of policing with him…………..
Donegal North East Deputy and Sinn Fein Justice Spokesperson Padraig Mac Lochlainn is calling on Cllr Mc Brearty to clarify his remarks, and says he is ready to debate the issue with Cllr Mc Brearty or anyone else………………..
