Sinn Fein calls on the council to provide monthly updates on financial targets

Donegal County Council officials are being asked to provide members with monthly updates on what progress is being made in achieving financial targets.
The move’s been proposed by Sinn Fein, who say the 2014 budget was forced through, and increased accountability is needed to ensure that extra money anticipated in the budget is sourced.
In his reply, Finance Director Garry Martin said each of the council’s directorates are working to achieve the amended targets,  but this is being done on an incremental basis which does not lend itself to equal amounts of income being achieved on a  monthly basis.
However, Cllr Jack Murray who moved the motion says if more money isn’t brought in, the council will find itself short later in the year, and that must not be allowed to happen:
