Donegal County Council has passed an emergency motion calling on management not to cooperate with with the controversial Gateway – local authority work placement scheme.
The scheme, announced last week by Social Protection Minister Joan Burton, is intended to offer work experience to 3,000 jobseekers.
However, Sinn Fein claims “Gateway” is compulsory, will not enhance the employability of participants as there is no quality training involved, and the recruitment embargo means no jobs will be offered at the end of the process.
