MEP Pat the Cope Gallagher has confirmed he is to seek re-election to Europe.
He will contest the Fianna Fail selection convention with a view to representing the party in the elections in May.
In 2009 Pat the Cope Gallagher secured 16% of first preference votes but faces a tougher challenge this time round with substatially larger constituency.
Speaking to Highland Radio News he said it is a challenge to which he is looking forward………………
