Dublin MEP urges other councils to follow Donegal’s example on Gateway programme

A protest against the “Gateway” job scheme is taking place in Dublin today.
The scheme places jobseekers, who’ve been unemployed for more than 2 years, into roles within local authorities. Last week, Donegal County Council passed a motion asking the county manager and his officials not to cooperate with the programme.
MEP Paul Murphy is organising today’s Dublin protest. He says “Gateway” amounts to “slave labour, and is calling on other councillors to follow Donegal’s example………
