1 in 4 Irish women have experienced physical or sexual violence, according to Europe s largest ever survey on violence against women.
But 70 per cent of Irish women said they don’t report a serious case of violence against them – the highest of the 28 EU countries surveyed.
The report by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights also found nearly 1 in 3 Irish women have experienced some form of psychological violence from a partner.
The CEO of Safe Ireland, Sharon O Halloran says the survey shows that figures for violence in Ireland are lower than other EU countries, but thats only because Irish women aren’t reporting it…….
