The INMO says Letterkenny General Hospital’s maternity unit it severely understaffed.
It currently has a ratio of 41 births to each midwife – compared to an international best practice ratio of 29.5 to one.
The figures have been released by the INMO today which says the situation nationally has worsened greatly over the last five years.
