The first Donegal Marathon for 31 years took place today, with a capacity 850 runners and walkers taking part, and organisers saying they intend to run the event next year.
The prospect of the race was raised in the chamber of the then Letterkenny Town Council last year by Cllr Dessie Larkin, who is now the Letterkenny Town Manager and Chair of the Marathon Support Committee.
Speaking to Highland Radio News on the starting line this morning, he said it’s been a cumilative effort to bring the event to fruition…………
