Kris Meeke was on course for his best ever WRC result when he crashed out while leading the Rally of Germany.
The Tyrone driver along with his navigator Paul Nagle moved into the outright lead this morning after Finland’s Jari-Matti Latvala crashed and retired on the opening stage.
Meeke was 56 seconds down in second place overnight and when Latvala crashed the citroen driver lead the rally by 8 seconds from Thierry Neuville of Belgium.
With a couple of stages left to run on the final day Meeke hit a wall and his event came to a very disappointing end.
Neuville won the rally ahead of Dani Sordo and Andreas Mikkelsen.
