Hill and Commonage farmers say it seems that commitments made to them about regulations governing their management of commonages will not be followed through.
Farmers had been told that a proposed requirement that a large percentage of farmers on a commonage would have to agree a management structure before payments were made would be eased.
However, at a briefing in Maam Cross in County Galway last night, department officials contradicted that.
Tonight, a similar briefing takes place in Ardara, with Donegal campaigners saying they will be attending and asking questions.
Their local spokesperson is Henry O’Donnell, who says it now appears that the commitment they were given was only a recommendation…………
