McCarthy will not be fit to face Germany

Roberto Martinez has ruled James McCarthy out of Ireland’s upcoming Euro qualifier with Germany.
The Everton midfielder isn’t included in the 27-man squad for Saturday’s game with Gibraltar, and it had been hoped he’d recover for the trip to Gelsenkirchen.
But speaking before today’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford, Martinez says McCarthy will now miss both qualifiers.
