McIver backs McKenna Cup

Ahead of this weekend’s tie against Fermanagh at Brewster Park, Derry manager, Brian McIver has dismissed the suggestion that competitions like the McKenna Cup should be scrapped.
Joe Brolly’s comments earlier this week in relation to the busy fixtures calendar has split opinion within the game and Brian McIver isn’t siding with Joe Brolly on this one.
He says teams will organise challenge matches before the league campaign – and given that the McKenna Cup is a competitive competition, it’s ideal preparation for the league
